Lil Durk changes lives of students at Howard University with a donation of $350,000 as well as a free live show

Lil Durk is making a significant impact on the lives of students at Howard University through his Durk Banks Endowment Fund, with a generous donation of $350,000.

Teaming up with Amazon Music, Durkio is awarding two students from Chicago with $50,000 scholarships each to attend the esteemed HBCU. The recipients will be announced during Durk’s performance at Howard University’s 2023 Springfest.

These students were chosen from a pool of 20 participants in Lil Durk’s Neighborhood Heroes HBCU College & Career Readiness Cohort Program. But Durk’s philanthropy doesn’t end there. The Chicago native is also contributing $250,000 to Howard’s GRACE Grant, aimed at assisting students in need of tuition support.

Taking to Instagram to share the news, Durk expressed his gratitude to all the struggling students striving to complete their education, emphasizing the significance of this blessing.

Durk established his Neighborhood Heroes non-profit organization in 2020, consistently giving back to his community in various ways.

Last year, the organization partnered with Chicago Votes to provide 29,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to inmates and staff in the Illinois Department of Correction facilities. This initiative was launched to address the lack of access to clean water in the prison system amid the CоVID-19 pаndemic.

Durk emphasized the importance of basic hygiene necessities for all, especially those in correctional facilities, to prevent the spread of the vιrus.

Earlier this year, the foundation organized a “Dinner with Durk” event in Chicago, where 30 high school students had the opportunity to engage with five mayoral candidates. This event aimed to empower the city’s youth to voice their concerns and ideas for community improvement.

In a post-event Instagram share, Durk is seen conversing with Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, among other guests.

Speaking to WGN News, one student highlighted the significance of such events in addressing community issues and shaping the future through civic engagement.

Another student expressed their hope for initiatives that would keep youth away from crime and contribute to positive community development.

Lil Durk’s commitment to philanthropy continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and communities, reflecting his dedication to giving back and supporting those in need.
