There has not been a bigger offseason headline this year than Brandon Aiyuk and the trade rumors surrounding him.

Every day, a new source tells a different story about whether the 49ers will move him and what team will pick him up.

However, it could be officially done after Aiyuk was spotted at 49ers practice on Wednesday wearing San Francisco gear.

The most recent reports surrounding a potential trade have centered around the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have been one of the main teams interested in him since the beginning of trade talks. It has even been reported that a trade is in place between the teams, and the final details are being ironed out.

Of course, now, though, it seems as if those reports of a deal have fallen apart and that Aiyuk will be heading back to the 49ers and even signing a new contract extension.

If that’s the case, then it seems like Aiyuk and the 49ers caused an insane amount of unnecessary drama for anyone who followed the situation.

Brandon Aiyuk Could Become One Of The Highest Paid Wide Receivers

All the drama surrounding an Aiyuk trade and extension has many people wondering what a new contract could look like.

He will enter his fifth year in the league and has no major accomplishments other than being a second-team All-Pro selection.

He is, however, coming off his best season ever. In 2023, he had 1,342 receiving yards, seven touchdowns, and 75 receptions. Those are good numbers, but it’s hard to say if they’re good enough to be paid like receivers like Justin Jefferson or Tyreek Hill.

As of now, it’s speculated that Aiyuk will get a new extension that earns him at least $28 million a year for at least four years.
