Indiana Pacers rookie Jarace Walker impressed in his Summer League debut, but his standout performance couldn’t overshadow the team’s struggles with turnovers. Unfortunately, their Summer League campaign continued with a narrow 97-95 defeat to the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night. However, the story of the game goes beyond the final whistle, as Walker acknowledged his team’s plenty of scoring opportunities.

Both the Nets and the Pacers struggled with turnovers in the first half of the game, with over ten committed by each squad before the midpoint of the second quarter.

Even though Indiana was up at that point and youngster Jarace scored a scorching 25 points, the Pacers squandered a 15-point second-half lead, ultimately losing 97-95 to the Brooklyn Nets.

The Pacers racked up a total of 27 turnovers, which left Jarace Walker stunned when stated by reporter Taylor Rooks.

The reporter asked the 26-year-old about his team’s 27 turnovers and how he plans to address them. Surprised by the number, he responded, “It’s 27? Damn. I think we just gotta slow the game down, make some decisions. I feel like the main thing is just slowing the game down, not rushing.” Later, with a smile, he added, “Yes, 27 is crazy.”

Despite the tight game, Jarace’s candid response emphasizes a crucial area where the Pacers team can grow.

Jarace Walker Shines Despite Pacers Summer League Heartbreaker

Jarace Walker was picked eighth overall in the draft. In the last game, he showed he was a well-rounded offensive player who could score from all three levels. However, the Indiana Pacers were plagued by turnovers throughout the contest. So, more was needed to secure a victory against the Nets.

This forward was the most interesting Pacers prospect heading into the NBA Summer League despite seeing action in only 33 games as a rookie. He looked much better in Friday’s first game of the Summer League.

Even though he had trouble scoring from long range, he was fantastic from midrange, making many jump shots and demonstrating excellent ball-handling skills. Jarace finished the game with 25 points, including 9 of 18 from the field and 0 of 3 from three-point range.
