On Friday night, Sophie Cunningham and the Phoenix Mercury found themselves in a tight matchup against the Atlanta Dream. Despite barely escaping with a victory, the veteran guard still decided to speak her mind on WNBA officials.

Over the weekend, Cunningham posted a TikTok of herself on her Instagram story lip-synching to a part of Blue Mauritani’s ‘Birds Of A Feather’ song. She made it clear she was jabbing at WNBA refs in the caption.

“You’re just so full of s***,” Cunningham said in the clip.

Things ended up going down to the wire for Cunningham and the Mercury in the game against the Dream. The officials ended up calling a foul with no time left on the clock, though it didn’t have an impact on the end result. Even if Tina Charles made both of her attempts, Atlanta still would have lost to the Mercury by one point.

Sophie Cnningham fresh off impressive feat vs Angel Reese and Chicago Sky

Despite being a second-round pick in 2019, Sophie Cunningham has grown to be a key contributor for the Phoenix Mercury. In their recent meeting with Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky, she pulled off a feat she’s never done in the WNBA.

The Mercury took down the Sky in dominant fashion, winning by a final score of 86-68. Cunningham was among the notable standouts, posting the first double-double of her professional career. She logged 32 minutes against Chicago and notched 13 points and 10 rebounds.

When talking about her performance after the game, Cunningham opened up on how she doesn’t mind doing the little things for such a talented team.

“Honestly, when you have three gold medalists on your team (Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner, Kahleah Copper), you have Natasha Cloud, who is a complete beast herself, and now you have Monique (Billings, 13 points and eight rebounds vs. Sky) coming in as well, I’m just trying to get out of everyone’s way and just be the dog of the team,” Cunningham said afterward.

This season, Cunningham is averaging 7.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists. Aside from her double-double against the Sky, her other notable performance on the year was a 21-point barrage against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

Along with being part of her first career double-double, Cunningham’s 10 rebounds are also a career-high for her.
