Caitlin Clark’s teammates took some heat for not having her back after she was decked by Chennedy Carter during Saturday’s showdown between the Chicago Sky and the Indiana Fever.

The Fever are 2-8 heading into Sunday evening’s clash against the New York Liberty, having won their first home game of the season in hotly contested clash with the Sky that went down to the wire.

The result has been overshadowed by Carter’s nasty body check on Clark, but it appears fans hardly noticed that one of the rookie’s teammates found it funny.

Aliyah Boston, who was getting ready to inbound the ball after Carter scored, initially showed some shock but began laughing while walking over to help Clark up from the floor.

Keep an eye on her in the video below:

Christie Sides Is Proud Of Caitlin Clark

Meanwhile, Fever head coach Christie Sides has praised Caitlin Clark for the way she’s handled the rough play.

“We’re just going to keep sending these possessions to the league, and these plays. And hopefully they’ll start, you know, taking a better look at some of the things that we see happening, or we think is happening,” she said, per the Associated Press.

“Just more happy that Caitlin handled it the way she did. You know, it’s tough to keep getting hammered the way she does and to not get rewarded with free throws or foul calls. She’s continued to fight through that. Appreciate that from her. Really, really proud of her for doing that.”

Clark finished the game with 11 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.

“I wasn’t expecting it,” she said of the foul. “It is what it is. It’s a physical game. Go make the free throw and execute on offense, and I feel like that’s kind of what we did.”

Chennedy Carter has been taking heat for her nasty body check on Caitlin Clark during Saturday’s game between the Chicago Fever and the Indiana Sky, but she isn’t backing down.

Carter and Clark looked to have been jawing at each other before the former decked her with a strong shoulder barge late in the third quarter.

The referees initially called an away-from-the-ball foul, but the WNBA has since upgraded it from common to flagrant-1.

A new fan video has surfaced online that suggests Clark may have actually been to blame.

The clip below shows Chennedy Carter taking an elbow to the face from Caitlin Clark while they fought for a rebound on the previous play.

Check it out below:

“I had a feeling there was more to the reason she retaliated than just CC talking trash,” a fan wrote after watching the vid. “Something told me CC may have gotten in a shot of her own at some point prior to Carter’s shoulder & hip check. Thanks for the additional information. Neither should’ve happened though.”

Chennedy Carter Is Not Impressed By Caitlin Clark

Chennedy Carter refused to discuss Caitlin Clark or the foul after the game and would not get into what caused her to run into the Fever rookie.

While she wouldn’t speak to reporters about the incident, she did take to threads to call out Caitlin’s game, claiming the former Iowa Hawkeyes point guard does nothing apart from shooting threes.

“Beside three point shooting what does she bring to the table man,” she wrote in a reply on Threads.

It appears the WNBA has a new beef, and fans are loving it.
