Angel Reese has made her feelings on the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year race very clear.
Reese and former college rival Caitlin Clark have been battling for the prestigious accolade since the beginning of the season, yet they have both insisted that they do not care about it.
The forward, who suited up for the Chicago Sky against Clark and the Indiana Fever on Friday night, was asked about it again ahead of the clash and reiterated her stance, also claiming that the erstwhile Iowa star isn’t concerned with it either.
“We don’t either care about the Rookie of the Year,” she declared. “I think you guys have made it a big thing.
“So just continue just to work within our team, we both wanna, we’ve been waiting to win, and that’s what we’ve done in our collegiate career, we played against each other in two numerous last year and the year before in the March Madness tournament so we’re just trying to do whatever it takes to win, that’s what’s important right now.”
Caitlin Clark Said Pretty Much The Same Thing About Herself And Angel Reese
Clark said something similar during her own media availability on Friday.
“I think me and Angel would both give you the same answer. You don’t wake up and think about individual awards,” she said. “I know that’s what all of you think we do… That’s what everybody wants to make this about.
“Both of our teams are competing for playoff spots. That’s our main focus. That’s a selfish thing to just care about an individual award, and she would give you the same exact answer.”
The Fever beat the Sky pretty soundly on the night, blowing them out 100-81, with Clark scoring a game-high 31 points.
Reese, meanwhile, recorded another double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

As Analysts, fans, and players debate over who should earn the Rookie of the Year award, Reese abruptly ended the conversation with a shocking declaration. In a recent interview, the former LSU athlete stated that she doesn’t care about winning Rookie of the Year and believes that Clark feels the same way. Reese, recently criticized by WNBA fans after announcing her podcast, mentioned that the media has blown it out of proportion.
“We don’t either care about the Rookie of the Year. I think you guys have made it a big thing…. we played against each other in two numerous last year and the year before in the March Madness tournament, so we’re just trying to do whatever it takes to win; that’s what’s important right now.” Reese said.
One fan said, “She’s jus sayin that cuz she knows she’s not winning.”
Meanwhile, another fan joked, “She sure cares.”
Another fan said, “Easy to say now that it’s more clear than ever. Clark >”
Another fan said, “She doesn’t care because she knows that she has no chance to win it.”
Clark Echoes Reese’s Take On Rookie Of The Year
Clark amazed everyone in the crowd with her stellar performance, leading the Fever to a 100-81 victory against the Sky. The 22-year-old showcased exceptional skills by scoring 31 points, making 12 assists, and grabbing four rebounds in her 32 minutes of play.
On the other hand, Reese scored 10 points, had two assists, and secured 11 rebounds. However, before the game, Clark responded similarly when asked about the Rookie of the Year award in an interview.
“I think me and Angel would both give you the same answer. You don’t wake up and think about individual awards. I know that’s what all of you think we do… That’s what everybody wants to make this about. Both of our teams are competing for playoff spots. That’s our main focus. That’s a selfish thing to just care about an individual award.” Clark said.
The debate over who should receive Rookie of the Year honors will continue despite Clark and Reese sharing the same opinion, and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
