Angel Reese did not use any derogatory language towards Caitlin Clark despite social media thinking she did.
At the women’s NCAA final, Angel Reese of LSU waved her hand in front of her face while glaring at Iowa’s Caitlin Clark. It was the most-talked-about move that involved two-star players and John Cena’s wrestling catchphrase.
LSU forward Angel Reese celebrated the Tigers’ fourth-quarter lead by saying something to Clark and then by waving one hand in front of her face. She also tapped her ring finger while looking pointedly at Iowa Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clark. Many on social media thought Reese said “Hey Hoe” to Clark to get her attention.
That was not the case.
Reese told Clark, “This ain’t no one-man show.”
Reese has been heavily criticized with commentators and observers calling her out. The word “classless” even trended on Twitter.

Both players have used the same gesture at this year’s March Madness: Clark waved a hand in front of her face two games earlier when Iowa beat Louisville to enter the Final Four. But she didn’t get criticism for it.
Reese faced backlash for returning the gesture, but she offered no apologies for her actions.
Cena has been doing the “You Can’t See Me” move since he brought it to the WWE in the early 2000s, and now that Reese has given even more light to it, expect it to be used in sports at every level.
Former ESPN Personality Says Angel Reese is A “F–king Idiot” For Taunting Caitlin Clark During National Championship Game (VIDEO + TWEET)
LSU Tigers star Angel Reese is a national champion but she would not leave the floor before she made sure to let Caitlin Clark know.
The LSU Tigers star taunted Clark at the end of the national title game on Sunday night.
One of the many people to hate it was former ESPN personality Keith Olbermann. He not only disliked it, he called Reese a ‘fucking idiot.’
He continued: “Doesn’t matter the gender, the sport, the background – you’re seconds away from a championship and you do something like this and overshadow all the good. Mindless, classless, and what kind of coach does this team have?”
Among the other comments included:
“Classless. IMO. But she’s been that way the whole tournament so doesn’t surprise me. Congrats to LSU though.,” one fan wrote.
“Excellent player, good game. But is all that necessary? Humble in victory?” one fan added.
“So, a player directly taunting an opposing player isn’t a technical foul?” one fan wrote.
“I like how she is show boating and wasn’t even the best player on her own team today. We couldn’t see you behind Jasmine Carson if it wasn’t for her you wouldn’t have that ring,” one fan wrote.
Angel Reese and the LSU Tigers are officially national champions after downing Iowa with an incredible 102-85 performance Sunday evening. She finished with 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting with 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Across six tournament games, Reese averaged 21.3 points and 15.2 rebounds per game.
