Kari Lake, the Trump ally and Arizona Republican, is looking at what might be her first electoral victory, as she is running for an Arizona senate seat against Dem. Rep. Ruben Gallego, and, according to recent polling from Peak Insights, is currently in a dead heat with Rep. Gallego as the race heats up headed into election season.

This is Kari Lake’s second statewide election campaign in Arizona. Her first was for the governorship, an election that she lost in 2022. She challenged her loss but did not succeed in the challenge. Afterward, she decided to run again, this time in the fight over the senate seat and won the GOP primary.

Now that Lake and Gallego are competing over the senate seat that will be left vacant by Senator Kyrsten Sinema, a former Democrat turned Independent who decided against trying to hold onto the seat, both are tied in terms of support from Arizonians. According to the poll, both have garnered 46% support, and 8% of voters are undecided.

In yet more good news in addition to the polling showing she has a good chance at winning, former Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey threw his support behind Lake and former President Trump on X, saying, “Much is on the line this election year & I’m encouraging all eligible Arizonans to vote & prioritize the issues that most affect our state & nation. I will be voting for Republicans up & down the ballot in November — and both Donald Trump and Kari Lake have my endorsement.”

Lake, thanking Ducey for his support, said, “For eight years, Governor @DougDucey transformed our economy and our education system. He made Arizona a destination again. But radical Democrats like Ruben Gallego want to take that away. Doug Ducey supports me because he knows it’s never been more important to unite all Arizonans and win big in November. Thank you, Governor!”

In another tweet, Lake vowed to support the police, writing, “In 2022, Joe Biden issued an Executive Order limiting federal equipment transfers to police, & requiring changes in their use of force policies This blatant effort to undermine our law enforcement was supported by Ruben Gallego & Kamala Harris. On Day One, I will work with Trump to rescind that executive order.”

That support for the police led to yet more great news for Lake: an endorsement from a large law enforcement organization. It said, “The Arizona Conference of Police and Sheriffs (AZCOPS) is a statewide organization representing almost 3,700 members across the state of Arizona. Following extensive research by the AZCOPS’ Legislative Committee and Executive Board, AZCOPS is proud to announce our endorsement of Kari Lake in her campaign for the United States Senate.”

AZCOPS continued, “AZCOPS examines several factors in determining which endorsements are appropriate. We look at the record of accomplishment of candidates, their willingness to work with the leadership of our member organizations, and the nature and conduct of their campaign and groups that contribute to their campaigns. We were impressed with your dedication to a positive campaign and your support of law enforcement.”
