Attended Sunday’s game against the Dallas Wings
Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese made headlines on Saturday by announcing that her inaugural WNBA season would be cut short due to a wrist injury.
Despite the disappointment of the early exit, Reese showed her unwavering support for her team by attending Sunday’s game against the Dallas Wings, sitting courtside to cheer on her teammates.
Reese wasn’t the only familiar face from her LSU days at the game. Her former college coach, Kim Mulkey, was also in attendance.
Mulkey supports Reese
The two shared a touching moment before the game, embracing on the sidelines in a show of continued support for one another.
A video and photo of the interaction posted on X captured the warm hug, illustrating the strong bond they’ve maintained since Reese‘s time at LSU.
Reese and Mulkey‘s connection dates back to their championship run in 2023, where Reese was instrumental in leading LSU to an NCAA title under Mulkey‘s guidance.
Though Reese has since moved on to the professional stage, it’s clear that the relationship between coach and player has remained solid, with Mulkey offering support as Reese is going through the early stages of her WNBA career.
“What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol,” Reese wrote on social media.
“Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed. All I have ever wanted was to come into the W and make an impact. I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so.

“I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next. Although this is God’s timing and not mine, I am finally able to give myself a physical and mental break. ‘God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.’
“You’ll still see me being the biggest cheerleader on the sideline! And Unrivaled league, see you soon!”
