Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have come under fire for their behaviour during Sunday’s US Open final, with fans branding their antics in the stands as ‘cringe’ and ‘attention-seeking’.

Alongside their friends, Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, the couple attended the final between Italy’s Jannik Sinner and American Taylor Fritz at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

During the match, cameras captured Swift and Kelce enthusiastically singing along to “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness.

While some praised their carefree energy, others were less impressed, accusing the duo of putting on a show for the cameras.

“Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are pure cringe at the US Open. This looks completely forced and unnatural,” one fan posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Another added, “No other couple loves the cameras this much. We’re still not buying it.”

Critics took particular aim at Swift‘s actions, with one user commenting, “It’s the US Open, not a football game. Maybe she’s just really trash vs class, I dunno.”

Another chimed in, “She definitely won’t be invited to Wimbledon.”

In another clip, Swift could be seen dancing while Kelce chatted with Patrick Mahomes.

Fans were divided, with some enjoying their fun energy, while others felt the display lacked the decorum expected at a prestigious event like the US Open.

The couple’s weekend in New York City also included a trip to Brooklyn pizza hotspot Lucali, where paparazzi were waiting for their arrival.

Their appearance at the US Open followed talk of a potential rift between Swift and Brittany Mahomes after Brittany liked a Donald Trump post on Instagram.

However, the two appeared to dismiss any rumours of tension as they were seen embracing during the match.

Swift and Kelce’s appearance at the tennis final marked the end of a busy weekend before Kelce returns to Kansas City for the Chiefs’ Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

But during an interview with the Associated Press, Jason Kelce made it clear that a comeback is not happening. Kelce cited that the Eagles won’t be calling him back after his drastic offseason weight loss:

“They’re not going to call me to come back and play center at 260 pounds, and I’m moving on to the next thing and I’m excited to watch Cam (Jurgens). I really think Cam is going to be tremendous this year. He’s going to really show people how great of a player he is.

He was good for us last year at right guard and he’s going to flourish at center. And for me personally, my days of playing are just done and I do not foresee any scenario taking place other than maybe medicine inventing a way to get rid of arthritis that I would ever entertain coming back at all anymore.”
