Mad Dog Russo went all-out on Team USA and their star Stephen Curry on the First-Take Show regarding their Gold medal win at the Olympics.
Stephen Curry and Mad Dog Russo
Basketball analyst Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo has lately stolen the headlines for his comments regarding Team USA and Stephen Curry securing the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Notably, Team USA won their historic 5th consecutive Gold medal in the Olympics. However, this did not go down well with Russo on the First Take Show.
Russo did not hold back on “First Take” when he delivered a heated rant about his dissatisfaction with Team USA’s celebration after winning gold at the 2024 Olympics. Given their star-studded lineup, Russo chastised the team for making an enormous deal out of what he considered a predicted victory.
"I am sick of this USA basketball on the men's making a big deal about winning a gold medal. Steph Curry putting people to sleep? ... The most significant gold medal in basketball we ever won [was] 1976... They beat Evan Fournier!"Chris Russo via First Take

Russo’s biggest disagreement seems to be the vast talent differential between Team USA and its competitors. In addition, Russo also left his co-hosts in shock after repeatedly calling Stephen Curry, ‘Stephon’.
The old-school basketball fan from First Take also did not fail to bring up the 1972 Olympics in Munich. That remains to be the only ‘gold medal’ basketball game that USA lost. Team USA might be more-stacked than ever but the world isn’t too far behind on superstars. The France team in the finals had phenom Victor Wembanyama, veteran Nicolas Batum, and Evan Fournier who made ‘The Avengers‘ work for their gold medal.
Despite recent hate, Team USA head coach Steve Kerr makes bold claim regarding Stephen Curry
Team USA and their run towards securing the Gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics was spearheaded by their star man, Stephen Curry‘s heroics in the knockout stages. However, Curry was dealt with recent hate by NBA analyst Mad Dog Russo on the First Take Show. Notably, despite the recent hate, Team USA head coach, Steve Kerr praised Curry for his monstrous performance in the Finals for his nation.
In addition, Curry delivered when his nation needed it most, hitting a game-high 24 points in a 98-87 victory over France to claim the Olympic gold medal in Paris. After the game when asked about Curry’s impact on the game, a jubilant Steve Kerr told the reporters, “He likes to be in storybooks.” It’s important to note that, Curry also scored a game-high 36 points in the Semi-Finals against Team Serbia at the Paris Olympics.

On the other hand, along with Curry, LeBron James and Kevin Durant served as the United States’ best and most reliable players. However, James has spent most of his time as the team’s top playmaker and scorer when needed. The 3 basketball legends have been at the peak of Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
