Sabrina Ionescu is coming off a successful Olympic run with USA Basketball, with the team capturing the gold medal against France on Sunday. She carried over her dynamic playmaking and shotmaking skills from the first 24 games of the WNBA season to be a consistent contributor to the team.
Following her latest accomplishment, Ionescu took the time to greet her “tequila-loving” husband, Hroniss Grasu, on Instagram. Grasu is an NFL free agent who previously played with the Las Vegas Raiders from 2021 to 2023. The couple got married on March 10, 2024, after making their relationship official through Instagram on August 12, 2021.
The New York Liberty guard also greeted him for his birthday with that post.
“Happy birthday to my sweet, kind, tequila-loving husband,” Ionescu posted. “I love you!”

Sabrina Ionescu included some gushing pictures alongside her husband while also including a hilarious clip of him preparing a pair of tequila drinks for the two of them. The video also included Grasu chugging the tequila bottle briefly after he poured it into the two shot glasses.

The couple’s March wedding took place in Laguna Niguel, California, as Ionescu previously shared stunning images of the momentous ceremony. They got engaged in January 2023. She also revealed to PEOPLE’s Natasha Dye that it was a moment she looked back on fondly while still getting accustomed to calling Grasu her husband.
“So, it was definitely memorable and we’re still coming down from it,” Ionescu said. “… So, I’m definitely still getting used to saying that I have a husband.”

During the interview, she also spoke about her family members visiting the USA from Romania to spend time with the couple while also doing some sightseeing in different cities such as San Francisco and Las Vegas.
It was a complete experience for Ionescu, who enjoyed her wedding and every other activity that was involved in the occasion.

“Just taking time away from working out on the basketball court and just being able to enjoy my offseason,” Ionescu said, “especially these last two months with my husband and his offseason as well.”
