The Mavericks rallied in Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics, and Doncic needed all the help he could get.
In Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday night, the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Boston Celtics 122-84 to prolong their season effectively. Luka Doncic scored 25 of 29 points in the first half, while Kyrie Irving chipped in 21.
For good cause, the Mavs’ stars were done by the conclusion of the third quarter. From the beginning, it was all Dallas. Before both teams exhausted their bench, the Mavs led by 13 at the end of the first quarter, 26 at the half, and up to 38 in the third.

Then Doncic took control, scoring 25 points in the first half to tie the Mavericks’ NBA Finals record. Moreover, the Mavericks jumped out to a lead as large as 48 points in the fourth quarter, thanks mainly to Doncic’s early domination.
Despite Luka Doncic and Irving shooting a combined 1-for-14 from outside the arc, the Mavericks gained their historic lead over the Celtics because of their outstanding defense. Fans were reminded of Irving’s 2016 NBA Finals performance when he assisted in leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a series victory after falling 3-1.
Doncic and Irving were benched in the fourth quarter. Dallas’ backups took over, with Tim Hardaway Jr. leading the bench in points with 15. They forced the Celtics to suffer their first defeat in eleven games. However, some fans began to believe that the 2023–24 Mavericks may become the first team in NBA history to return from a 3-0 deficit in a playoff series after the club performed spectacularly.

As the Boston Celtics reached the final stage of their season’s journey, Jayson Tatum sat with former NBA veterans to discuss teammate Jrue Holiday, who made a significant impact on the Cs.
Following a 106-99 win in Game 3 of the NBA Finals, when Tatum joined Charles Barkley and Co. for a post-game interview, the Hall of Famer brought up Holiday’s performance and said, “It’s a pleasure and a privilege to watch him [Jrue] play defense…he’s the biggest difference on y’all team this year.”
Expressing his astonishment, the Celtics forward stated, “I don’t know how they let us get him but, I’m so happy that we got Jrue on our team, we’re just very fortunate. He just makes winning plays. He’s obviously been here and won a championship.”
Jrue Holiday impressed many with his outstanding performance in the post-season tournament. He averaged 13.2 points, 6 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game for the Greens while shooting 50.9% from the floor and 40% from behind the 3-point line.
Tatum was so mesmerized by the veteran guard’s performance that he wondered how his former team allowed him to leave. However, he is not the only one who questions the trade.
