Patrick Mahomes is well aware that the road to becoming the greatest of all time is paved with challenges. With three Super Bowl victories under his belt, he knows that achieving a historic three-peat will not be easy. Yet, with the talent and determination of the Kansas City Chiefs, the opportunity to etch their names in history is within reach.
The superstar quarterback was speaking with former mentor and teammate Alex Smith on a segment of SiriusXM NFL. He explained how their thought around the possibility have evolved ever since they won Super Bowl 58.
It wasn't like we talked about it openly. I mean right after the Super Bowl you saw that we were saying like 'we gotta go do it'. But since we've gotten back, it's just football. We know what the process is. The day-by-day process of just getting better. Guys want to be great, and I think that's the best thing about it.Patrick Mahomes said
It seems from the adrenaline-filled emotions after winning the Super Bowl; the Chiefs have stopped talking about it openly. As they know, the only way to get back to the Lombardi game is to play great football.
Therefore, they have decided to focus on the task at hand. That is, to integrate their new influx of players, build chemistry, and work on the mistakes of the past season. They know that other teams have done their part to catch up with them.

There is a reason why the decision makers are those who have been there, seen it all, and experienced it all. Head coaches, GMs, and front office executives are those who are in their job as they can think rationally without the adrenaline of a player. This is why the Kansas City Chiefs had one of the best off seasons of any team this year.

For a Super Bowl winner to have such an offseason is not easy. They managed to upgrade the offense. Even though some standout players left, they maintained their core and brought in players who can play alongside that core. Most importantly, they have a coaching staff that is by far one of the best in the league.
All that could stand between them is off-field issues and injuries. Avoid those or at least have a hedge ready, and Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will write their names in NFL history books. Winning three straight Super Bowls in the most team-oriented sport in the world is unreal.
