Additional details have emerged following Ricky Pearsall’s shooting in San Francisco this Saturday.
The 49ers rookie was reportedly shot in the chest during a robbery attempt, with his assailant allegedly trying to rid him of his Rolex watch
ESPN’s Adam Schefter has since obtained a statement from the authorities noting that the officers who responded to the call found two injured males when they arrived on the scene.
Pearsall is said to have grappled with the robber, and both of them got shot in the struggle. The wide receiver is said to be stable while the suspect is in police custody.
“On August 31, 2024, at approximately 3:37 p.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to the area of Geary Street and Grant Avenue on a report of a shooting,” the statement reads. “Upon arrival, officers located two male subjects suffering from injuries. Officers rendered aid and medics transported both subjects to a local hospital for further medical evaluation.
“During the preliminary investigation, officers learned one of the subjects attempted to rob the victim, San Francisco 49ers player Ricky Pearsall. During the attempted robbery, a physical altercation ensued, and both the suspect and victim were injured. The suspect is in custody and charges are pending at this time. All information is preliminary, and more information will be provided as it becomes available. Media availability will be held this evening at San Francisco General Hospital.”

The 49ers have since issued a statement on the incident, revealing that the player is in serious but stable condition.
Ricky Pearsall, the 31st overall pick of this year’s NFL Draft, was tipped to have a very positive first season but will likely see his debut delayed after this worrying incident.
