We all know that April McDaniels and Savannah James are the best of friends. Recently, Daniels shared a video where the whole squad was in Munich for Adele’s concert, enjoying a relaxing holiday. She is a certified member of the James gang! But she wasn’t a childhood friend, present in Vannah’s life for all the important moments. And yet, as the 38-year-old states, they are “thick as thieves.” How did that come to be?

Apparently, that was a story a majority of their fans wanted to know. And in season 2, episode 6 of Everybody’s Crazy podcast, April and Savannah decided to treat us to their tale. It sure was as quirky as the women themselves. But in the midst of Mrs. James’ storytelling, we get to know that she wasn’t the biggest fan of returning to Cleveland a second time.

And the reason was none other than her best friend. “I know you do party so you going to throw this baby shower,” the millionaire entrepreneur remembers telling. She was referring to her third pregnancy, which, if you remember, Pat Riley, casually let the world know during his 2014 season-ending press conference.

Coming back to our April-Vannah friendship tale, the women first met when the latter was “very pregnant” with Bryce in 2007. The ‘Crown + Conquer’ founder was particularly attentive to a pregnant Savannah’s needs, and it really made a huge impression on her. Considering Daniels was an up-and-coming creative agent, the pair met regularly at these parties.

Later, when the James family moved to Miami, their meet-ups happened more often as April had moved her business to South Beach. And from there, they just clicked. The mother of three described their friendship as “super organic.” Given how the friendship really took off in Miami, the city held a special charm. Naturally, Savannah James was excited that Zhuri was going to be born there.

With April taking care of the baby shower arrangements, it was double the fun. But LeBron James had other plans. “LeBron said, ‘I am taking my talents back to Cleveland.’ And I was like, ‘What? No, I don’t want to go back.’,” Mrs. James recounts.

But her husband had made a promise to the city, and being the biggest supporter of arguably the greatest basketball players of all time, his beloved accompanied him back to the Cavs. Very pregnant, of course.

LeBron James fulfilled his promise to Cleveland thanks to the support of Savannah James

That much is a non-contested fact. Every single achievement of the NBA’s all-time scorer will always have Savannah’s hand in it. After all, she’s the reason why the man has been able to scale such great heights. And his return to the Cavaliers was no different, either. For Cleveland, James‘ return was a necessity.

The 4x champion left the ‘City of Champions’ with a promise that he would be the one to bring a title to Cleveland. And although his decision wasn’t well-received (that’s putting it mildly), the move to Miami resulted in two championships and so much experience from the vets. Finally, the ‘Akron Hammer’ felt it was time to go back. The ultimate return of the prodigal son!

And finally, LeBron James and Co. brought home the championship that had evaded for much too long in 2016. In what was a thrilling comeback against the Warriors, the Cavs defeated the Golden State 93-89 in Game 7.

“I came back to bring a championship to our city … I knew what I learned in the last couple years that I was gone, and when I came back, I knew I had the right ingredients and the right blueprint to help this franchise get back to a place that we’ve never been. That’s what it was all about.”

But not before Savannah had gotten her baby shower, of course!
