Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports was quick to point out that Reese stayed in the game late while Clark was pulled out well before the end. Clark, who scored 31 points and dished out 12 assists, received a standing ovation from the crowd when she left the court. Portnoy expressed his amusement, saying, “Kinda funny watching Angel chase her double-double record during the final 4 minutes of a 30 pt blowout while Caitlin checked out 2 hours ago to a standing O on the road.”
This move didn’t go unnoticed by others either, with many suggesting that Reese’s late shot attempts cheapened her accomplishment. It’s not the first time Reese has faced criticism either; she’s been accused of stat-padding throughout her rookie season for staying in games late to record double-doubles.
