Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce performed a kind gesture after hitting a fan with a terrible golf shot at the American Century Championship on Friday.

Travis Kelce is one of many notable athletes competing in the 2024 American Century Championship, an annual celebrity golf tournament. His brother, retired center and Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce, is also part of the field.

Per Chris Biderman of the Sacramento Bee, Kelce hit an errant shot on the first hole that struck a fan in the arm. Thankfully, the fan shook it off and avoided a serious injury. The fan also got the celebrity encounter of a lifetime, as Travis Kelce went over and kissed his arm:

Other celebrities competing in the tournament include former MLB stars Gary Sheffield, Mark Mulder, John Smoltz, Chase Utley, Shane Victorino, Jayson Werth and Roger Clemens, New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers, retired NFL greats Larry Fitzgerald, DeMarcus Ware Brian Urlacher, Mike Vrabel, John Elway, Jerry Rice and former NBA stars Ray Allen and Vince Carter.

Kelce has a few more days of vacation time before the Chiefs begin training camp next week. The Chiefs will kick off their preseason play with a road tilt against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aug. 10.

Last season, Kelce caught 93 passes for 984 yards and five touchdowns despite missing two games. In four playoff games, he had 32 receptions for 355 yards and three touchdowns, helping the Chiefs to a second straight Super Bowl championship.

Travis Kelce & Chiefs Open Season vs. Ravens

The Chiefs will kick off their 2024 season against a familiar rival in Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, a rematch from the 2023 AFC title game that Kansas City won 17-10.

Kansas City boasts a 4-1 record against Jackson, with two of those victories coming in Baltimore. Even though it’s Week 1, it’s safe to say this game will carry significant playoff-seeding implications.

New Study Reveals Taylor Swift Helped Travis Kelce Overtake Patrick Mahomes In Key Area

The Taylor Swift effect is real, and Travis Kelce is reaping the benefits.

On the football field, the Kansas City Chiefs have two of the best players at important positions, which has helped them win three Super Bowls.

Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are now in another battle but off the field.

This “battle” has to do with the two players’ social media followings, and Kelce has just passed a significant milestone with the help of Taylor Swift.

A recent study by sports analytics provider Tips.gg highlighted Kelce’s significant increase in followers in the past week alone.

Kelce’s Instagram following received 256,849 new followers following his appearances at Taylor Swift’s Eras tour concerts in London and Dublin. Kelce was hilariously on center stage, dancing and carrying Swift across the stage.

The surge in new fans elevated his total follower count to 6,792,084, which has now went past Mahomes, who currently stands at 6,790,013 followers.

None of this would be possible without the influence of Taylor Swift, who has introduced the sport of American football to millions of new fans.

“It’s no secret that Travis Kelce’s popularity has skyrocketed globally over the last year, partly down to his crucial role in the Chiefs back-to-back Super Bowl wins and his romance with popstar Taylor Swift,” commented Anton Malyutin, Founder and CEO of Tips.gg.

After the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Chicago Bears in September 2023, with Taylor Swift in attendance, searches for Travis Kelce jerseys skyrocketed by 1,267%, and they would overtake Patrick Mahomes for the first time in history.

Fox reported at the time that Kelce saw a nearly 400% increase in jersey sales after Swift’s appearance.

“Yesterday, Travis Kelce was one of the top 5 selling NFL players and saw a nearly 400% spike in sales throughout the Fanatics network of sites, including NFLShop.com,” Fanatics said.

Kelce was one of the most popular players in the league, but prior to Swift, he was sitting outside the top 10 in jersey sales.
