The Straw Hat Crew barely made it off of Egghead Island, but even Luffy suspects that some One Piece characters that were vital allies in his escape may soon become enemies. Events that transpired on Dr.Vegapunk’s futuristic island continued to escalate to the point where Luffy’s crew had to contend with many of One Piece‘s strongest villains who only got more scary, including CP0, the Seraphim, Admiral Kizaru, and the Five Elders. Still, they were not the biggest enemies the Straw Hats may face in the upcoming arc.
In one of Egghead’s most satisfying twists that’d been building for almost 1000 chapters, the Giants, whom the Straw Hats encountered during the Little Garden Arc, came to their rescue during the chaotic events on Egghead Island. However, Luffy’s crew may not be the only ones to whom the Giants are loyal.

The Straw Hats Will Have A Big Problem If The Giants Side With Shanks
The Giants and Elbaf Were First Introduced In One Piece Chapter #116
Shanks had formed a strong bond with the Giants in the past, which was made even more apparent when Dorry and Broggy helped the Red-Haired Pirates destroy Eustass Kid’s dreams. The often friendly Giants are clearly loyal to Shanks, and while they owed Luffy and his crew for their assistance during the Little Garden arc, it’s currently unclear which pirate crew the large allies would side with if the Straw Hats and the Red Haired Pirates were to clash.
With Luffy being the user of the Sun God Nika Fruit, a figure the Giants worship from the past, it seems obvious that they’d side with Luffy rather than Shanks. However, Eiichiro Oda has made a habit of surprising fans with twists that often lead to exciting and unexpected outcomes. As of chapter #1124, anticipation is high to finally see the Straw Hats reach Elbaf, even if heartbreaking confrontations await.
One Piece’s Final Battles Will Dwarf The Giants
Luffy Is Happy To Party With Friends, Even If They Will Soon Be Enemies
Now that the Egghead Arc is finished, One Piece is well on its way into its final saga, with the race to the One Piece treasure being more intense than ever. Several Worst Generation Pirates have been knocked out of the running in the last couple of arcs, with Blackbeard, Shanks, and Luffy’s crews being the closest to finding the One Piece. After many years of top-tier narrative buildup, the next arc may finally see their factions clashing.
Shanks’ crew was last seen on Elbaf, precisely where the Straw Hat crew was heading next. Whether the Giants will fight with or against the Straw Hats is only one of the many mysteries that fans want to be resolved with a meeting between the two crews. Usopp’s confrontation with his father and Luffy’s long-awaited reunion with Shanks may happen in One Piece‘s next arc. Still, even Luffy doesn’t believe that having to fight an alliance between Shanks and the Giants will prevent him from becoming the King of the Pirates.
