Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, was recently called out for another alleged lie about an award that he claimed he was the recipient of. Walz reportedly claimed he had received an award from the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce.  However, a resurfaced letter from the organization noted that Walz had never received such an award.

Then-president of the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce, Barry L. Kennedy, wrote a letter to Walz in 2006, requesting that he remove language from his campaign site claiming that he had been the recipient of an award from the chamber. “It has come to my attention that as part of your campaign for U.S. Congress, you have posted your biography on your website that claims you received an award from the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce for your service to the business community,” Kennedy wrote.

Kennedy further noted, “I have been the President of the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce since 2000 and a professional staff person of the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce for over 20 years. We researched this matter and can confirm that you have not been the recipient of any award from the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce.”

The president pointed out that the chamber had actually endorsed Walz’s opponent, continuing, “I am not going to draw a conclusion about your intentions by including this line in your biography.  However, we respectfully request that you remove any reference to our organization as it could be considered an endorsement of your candidacy. It should be pointed out, however, that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has endorsed your opponent, Congressman Gil Gutknecht, for his support of small business issues.”

Conservative Brief shared a screenshot of the letter on X, writing, “Another Day, Another Tim Walz Lie! In what should come as a shock to absolutely no one, another Tim Walz lie has surfaced – this time his claim of being a recipient of an award by the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce. This lie was debunked by none other than the President of the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce himself! Is there any part of Walz’ life he HASN’T lied about to further his political career?!”

The American Tribune covered another controversy from Walz regarding his service in the National Guard.  The Minnesota Governor had previously claimed he had forgone retirement to reenlist and serve the country after the Twin Towers fell on 9/11.  However, reports indicate that Walz was not eligible for retirement until the following year.

Minnesota National Guard’s Director of Manpower and Personnel, Col. Ryan Cochran, “Governor Tim Walz received his notification of eligibility for retirement on August 3, 2002.  He was promoted to sergeant major (E-9) on September 17, 2004, and immediately began serving as the command sergeant major for the 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery while his packet was submitted to the National Guard Bureau to appoint him to command sergeant major (E-9). Once approved by NGB, he was laterally appointed to command sergeant major (E-9) on April 1, 2005. He retired from the Minnesota National Guard on May 16, 2005. Our records do not indicate when he made his request to retire. Leadership reviews and approves all requests to retire. He was administratively reduced to master sergeant (E-8) on May 15, 2005, because he did not complete all required U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy coursework.”
