González breaks silence on the speculation of her being cast as the DCU’s new Wonder Woman in the future.

Comic book fans are all in anticipation of what the developing DCU will bring to the table following the downfall of the old franchise. Thus, as David Corenswet was first rumored, but later confirmed to be playing the role of Clark Kent in the upcoming Superman, actress Eiza González was speculated to become the next Wonder Woman in cinema.

Several fans were hoping to see the actress take the role of one of The Trinity of DC Comics, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. In a recent interview, the actress revealed that she had already lost the role of Catwoman in Robert Pattinson’s The Batman to Zoë Kravitz, and in the future, she might not be playing a comic book character for a long time.

The new DCU is in full development from scratch, which means a lot of vacancies for roles of DC superheroes and supervillains are still up for grabs. Thus, many comic book fans started to speculate who might play what character in the future, among which Mexican actress and singer Eiza González was the top pick by most to play the role of Wonder Woman.

While several ideas and concept artworks were floating around with the Bloodshot actress as the Princess of Themyscira, there was never any official or conclusive information to support those speculations. And now, it seems like the actress herself has revealed how her becoming the superhero in the DCU is just a dream.

In a recent interview with ComicBook while talking about her upcoming Netflix series 3 Body Problem, she revealed that she cannot see herself as a superhero character for a long time in the future, saying:
“I don’t see it happening. I mean, it’s like my opportunity has been there and it’s not happened for me. So I think it’s just not in the cards for Eiza Gonzalez, which is OK. I’m, I’m ok with it. Actually, I think that when I was younger, I was like, it really excited me and obviously like this point, it’s been so many years,”

This isn’t the first time she has been eyed to be playing a comic book character in the film industry, as not long ago, she was also speculated to play the role of Sue Storm alongside Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards in the upcoming Fantastic Four in the MCU.

The reason why González might feel like her chances of playing a comic book character in the future are severely slim might be due to her losing the role of Catwoman in The Batman featuring Robert Pattinson as the titular protagonist.

During the same interview, she talked about how she was devastated when she realized that she had lost the role of the cat burglar in the aforementioned film. She revealed how excited she was when she first had the chance to audition for the role of the character in front of the camera as Catwoman was one of her favorites from DC Comics, and losing that role was tough for her.
