Former President Donald Trump has recently made substantial efforts to expose Vice President Kamala Harris’s “communist” economic agenda. During a rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend, Trump informed the audience of the “socialist price controls” Harris seeks to implement on grocery prices. Trump likened Harris’ agenda to that of the Soviet Union and socialist Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

“Kamala went full-communist. She went full-communist,” Trump said at the rally. “She wants to destroy our country. After causing catastrophic inflation, comrade Kamala announced that she wants to institute socialist price controls. You saw that, never worked before. Never ever worked. This is the Maduro plan, Venezuela, Maduro plan of the old Soviet Union. They tried it. How did the Soviet Union work out? It became Russia.”

Throughout Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s time in the White House, Americans have faced historically high levels of inflation. Many have blamed the current administration’s policies, such as excessive expansionary fiscal stimulus in an already hot economy and hostility toward the fossil fuel industry driving up energy prices, as a contributing factor to inflation.

Subsequently, Harris has launched a tirade against “excessive” corporate profits and supposed “price gouging.”  However, many see the rhetoric as Vice President Harris pushing the blame for inflation away from the Biden-Harris administration and onto other actors in the economy.  Trump further highlighted the impacts such policies would have on Americans.

“It will cause rationing, hunger, and skyrocketing prices, just like their Inflation Reduction Act caused one of the great scams of all time,” he explained. “They got it approved with a beautiful name, Inflation Reduction, because inflation under their system has been so bad, it’s gone up much more than 50%, you know they say 30%, 40%, 50% … people are being devastated. They’re being devastated, but it’s gone way up, way up.”

The American Tribune recently reported on other critical comments from Trump toward Harris.  “Now Kamala is reportedly proposing communist price controls, she wants price controls,” the former president said. “And if they worked, I’d go along with it, too, but they don’t work. They exactly have the exact opposite impact and effect and it leads to food shortages, rationing, hunger, dramatically more inflation.”

Doubling down on his comparison to contemporary examples of socialism and communism, Trump added, “She’s running on the Maduro plan. we call it the Maduro plan, like something straight out of Venezuela or the Soviet Union. This announcement is an admission that her economic policies have totally failed, and caused really a catastrophe for our country and beyond that, a catastrophe in the world.”

The Tribune also reported on Trump outlining his own economic plan to drastically reduce energy prices for Americans.   “On day one, we’re going to drill baby drill, and we’re going to close the border, and we’ll let people come in, but they’re going to come in legally. They’re going to come into our country legally. But on day one, we’re going to do many things. You’re not going to do a lot of things at one time, but the question is, often is, what’s the first thing you’re going to do, I would say we have a tie. We’re going to close the border. We’re not going to let we’re going to stop the millions of people coming in, and we’re going to take all of the criminals that have come in, and we know every one of them,” he said.
