A wrongful d3ath suit for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins just got a major update on its status.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that a dismissal has been filed in the state of Florida for the wrongful d3ath case of the former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback.

Rick Ellsley, who is an attorney representing Kalabrya Haskins, offered a statement following the dismissal.

“Each of the various defendants have paid their respective settlements, so the wrongful d3ath case in Florida is now closed,” Ellsley said.

Back in 2022, the world woke up to the news that Dwayne Haskins had tragically been killed after sustaining fatal injuries when he was struck by a dump truck and another vehicle on I-595 near Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

His rental car was later found out of gas on the highway shoulder near the scene where he was struck.

The autopsy report revealed at the time that Haskins had a blood alcohol content of .20 and had tested positive for the painkiller ketamine. He had been training in the area with some of his Pittsburgh Steelers teammates and had gone to dinner with them before visiting a club with a friend.

Dwayne Haskins’ family filed a lawsuit in 2023 that accused the truck driver of speeding, driving recklessly, and traveling with a weight that was above the legal limit. The suit also named the truck owner and his company while pointing to negligence by the Florida Department of Transportation, the rental car company, and the contractor providing signage along 1-595.

Dwayne Haskins Never Got The Chance To Show His True Talent

Haskins, a former star quarterback for Ohio State, played three NFL seasons with Washington and Pittsburgh.

His tragic d3ath on April 9, 2022, brought an end to his life and any chance for him to show his true talent in the league.

Haskins, who was 24 at the time of his d3ath, was selected as the No. 15 overall pick by the Washington Commanders in 2019. He joined the Pittsburgh Steelers two years later.

He never got a chance to suit up and play a regular season game for the Steelers.

In 16 appearances for Washington, Haskins threw for 2,804 yards with 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Dwayne Haskins Jr.’s Parents File Lawsuit Against His Widow, Kalabrya Haskins, In Shocking Turn Of Events

Dwayne Haskins Jr.’s parents and his sister have had enough of his widow, Kalabrya Haskins.

The two sides, who did not meet each other until after his d3ath, are going to war against each other, which will now lead them to court.

Haskins Jr.’s parents and his sister filed a lawsuit against Dwayne Haskins Jr.’s widow, formally accusing her of misusing his name and image on social media and refusing to share her husband’s ashes.

Haskins’ mother and father, Tamara and Dwayne Haskins Sr., and sister, Tamia Haskins, are also suing Kalabrya Haskins as they alleged she has been harassing them over their attempts to use his name and image on social media.

The lawsuit claims that Kalabrya Haskins has complained about the family posting about Haskins Jr. on Instagram, which has led to the social media platform disabling their accounts.

According to the complaint, per Triblive, the plaintiffs have “experienced constant harassment from the defendant whenever they have attempted to reference his name, image, and likeness in public forums such as social media.”

One complaint stated Haskins Sr.’s account was disabled because he “created ‘an account that looks like it belongs to a celebrity.’”

“This decision was made despite the fact that Dwayne Haskins Sr. simply shares the same name as his famous son, but has not otherwise posted any content on Instagram,” the complaint said.

Dwayne Haskins’ Estate Reached Settlement Over His Untimely D3ath

Last year, the estate of late NFL quarterback Dwayne Haskins reached a “partial settlement” in its lawsuit against the driver, the owner, and the broker of the dump truck that struck and killed the QB.

Haskins tragically passed away in 2022 while he was reportedly walking on a South Florida highway to retrieve gas.

His family alleged at the time that the driver of the truck was speeding, driving carelessly, and had a cargo load exceeding the legal weight limit.

At the time of his d3ath, Haskins had ketamine in his system and a blood alcohol content of at least .20%.

He was only 24.
