Mahomes spoke on Kelce’s influential habits
At the conclusion of Kansas City Chiefs training camp, Patrick Mahomes is getting real about his All-Pro teammate Travis Kelce.
Why is Travis Kelce a bad influence?
Mahomes said that Taylor Swift’s boyfriend throws him off his game when they are on the golf course together. If Mahomes can’t spend more than two days around Kelce like he says, how do their Chiefs teammates feel after a month around Kelce at preseason camp?
The Super Bowl MVP revealed that his sidekick has a huge influence on the rest of the team, which makes life that much easier for Mahomes.
Kelce’s attitude rubs off on teammates
“It makes my job easier as a leader to push other guys, because I can just say, ‘Look at the Hall of Famer who’s out here practicing harder than anybody,'” he said of Kelce’s “remarkable” work ethic.
Kelce is widely considered one of the best tight ends in NFL history, but Mahomes went as far as comparing him to the best pass catcher ever, Jerry Rice.
“He enjoys the process of being great. Not just the top, not winning the Super Bowl. He enjoys the process of practicing, of working on little details. That’s what the great ones do. You hear stories like that about Jerry Rice,” Mahomes said.
Apparently, Kelce loves practicing so much that he makes a scene when he gets taken off the field for one play, even though he already knows it all, said the QB.
“Thats how you become the GOAT,” stated a fan in the comments of the interview on X, formerly Twitter.
Patrick Mahomes may have to limit his time around Travis Kelce for his own sanity, but if the rest of the Chiefs know what’s good for them, they’ll soak in every bit of his generational influence.
