Until recently, Jonathan Owens was known to gymnastics fans only as “Simone Biles’ husband.” However, that changed thanks to his appearance on a popular series on streaming giant MAX, where the Chicago Bears safety talks about his career and relationship with the Olympic champion.

While NFL fans have a great deal of admiration for the Bears star, his popularity was not as high among gymnastics fans. However, since Owens announced that he would take time off from training camps to accompany Biles to the Paris 2024 Olympics, the gymnast’s fans have showered him with praise.

“Hard Knocks,” the popular MAX documentary series that follows a different NFL team each season, dedicated its latest installment to the Bears. And Owens takes center stage, speaking about his relationship with Biles.

Biles fans went wild for the gesture and the trip details Owens shared with Hard Knocks, including a cameo from the gymnast.

The Internet surrenders to Owens

In a recent post on Reddit’s r/Gymnastics board, one user shared the Hard Knocks cover at MAX with the caption “Simone’s Husband on Max Show.”

Along with the image, the Redditor explained, “For anyone who has Max in the States, there is some good Simone/Jonathan content as she gets ready for the Olympics and he leaves training camp to see her. I am not really a football fan but it’s a pretty good doc so far.”

Owens’ appearance on Hard Knocks finally brought gymnastics and football fans together. “This show is great! Been watching it for years so having Simone cameos is frosting on the cake!,” shared one follower.

While commenting on a specific moment from the show, another netizen noted, “Him [Owens] relaying the story to his teammate killed me. You can tell he really respects her abilities and isn’t afraid to say that she can beat him at something.”
