Novak Djokovic has always publicly expressed his love for basketball, highlighting the influence of the late Kobe Bryant on his path to success in tennis.
Less than a week after suffering a shock early exit at the Indian Wells Open, he showed off his basketball skills during a break from tennis. The World No. 1 visited the Crypto.com Arena to watch the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.
Before enjoying the action between two of the league’s most popular teams, the 36-year-old was given the opportunity to step on the court himself.
Djokovic uploaded a video to his Instagram account of him channeling his best Stephen Curry impersonation as he expertly mimicked LeBron James’ signature 3-pointer shot into the net with precision and finesse.
Calling on NBA legend LeBron James, the Serbian captioned his photo by saying: “Not too bad ha? @kingjames.” Impressed by what he saw, the Lakers star took to the comments and said: “Hahahahaha!!!! Not bad at all my friend!! Right on point.”
Djokovic had the chance to meet James as the sporting icons spoke with one another before posing for some photographs. Alongside posting these photos to his Instagram account, the 24-time tennis Grand Slam champion said: “Amazing to witness greatness on and off the court.”
