American alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn has once again landed herself in trouble with her post about the GOAT of tennis. As the 39-year-old Olympic champion shared pictures with Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic and hailed the 24-time Grand Slam winner as the GOAT, she faced scrutiny on social media.
Notably, weeks after declaring Swiss tennis maestro Roger Federer as the GOAT, Lindsey Vonn hailed Djokovic as the greatest of all time. The Olympic champion acknowledged the Serb’s achievements and went against her initial claim where she called Federer the GOAT “no matter what the statistics say”.
Vonn, however, emphasized the fact that there can be more than one player who is the “Greatest Of All Time” in a single sport.
“Hanging with the [goat emoji], and yes, I do believe he is the goat. Contrary to twitter beliefs, I think there can be more than one. But @DjokerNole holds the records and I have nothing but respect for what he’s achieved… and he skis!” Lindsey Vonn posted on X.
As Lindsey Vonn praised Novak Djokovic and called him “the GOAT”, tennis fans criticized the American ski racer for giving up against trolls. Fans interpret this attempt from Vonn as a move to silence the critics who thrashed her for declaring Roger Federer as the GOAT.
Quite a few tennis fans accused Vonn of doing it on purpose. Meanwhile, a few also pointed out that there can be only one GOAT in any sport.
