It all started after a video snippet from a recent episode of Ahmed’s The Ears podcast hit socials last week. In the clip, Ye boldly professes his belief that he invented every style of music in the last 20 years, a claim that highly offended Boosie.
“Not Boosie Music,” he replied. “You can’t relate to nothing I rap about … Nobody listens to Kanye n the projects are the trenches.”
Kanye’s response to that was swift and devastating. “I just saw that ‘Wipe Me Down’ was made in 2007,” Ye typed on IG Story. “I take no responsibility for whatever that genre would be.”
So, that brings us to Boosie’s response, which he tweeted today, March 18.
“The genre of music I make is called ‘Boosie music’,” he wrote in all capslock. “It makes you cry, it makes you smile, it makes you dance, it gives you motivation, it makes you think, i really raise people thru my music, its real hearfelt music.”
“No rapper has raised mo street n*ggas than me,” Boosie continued. “I make the music thats makes you feel like we grew up in the same house together.”
Released in 2007, “Wipe Me Down” featuring Foxx and Webbie soared to become a Top 40 hit, landing on the Billboard 100 chart.
Since then, Boosie Badazz has unleashed over four dozen full-length projects, including the freshly dropped “In House 2: Boosie and the Beast.”
