With four NBA championships already to his name, Stephen Curry recently secured his first Olympic gold medal. During this journey, Curry reunited with his former Warriors teammate, Kevin Durant.

Curry showcased his leadership in the semifinals and finals of the Paris Olympics, while Durant played a pivotal role in helping Team USA dominate the group-stage games. The Phoenix Suns star ended up being the highest scorer for Team USA. Nevertheless, their successful partnership has reignited discussions about Curry’s legacy, particularly during their time together on the Warriors.

Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas recently weighed in on the matter, controversially claiming that Durant’s presence was essential not only in Paris but also during Curry’s time with the Warriors. Arenas suggested that Durant was the key factor in helping the Warriors overcome their biggest rival, LeBron James.

They are the [73-9] team. Everybody put the narrative on KD for saying yes and not the [Warriors]. Your guns weren’t big enough to beat LeBron James, so you got to go out and get a bazooka,” Arenas said.

Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry: A Legacy of Success

Stephen Curry has been a cornerstone of the Golden State Warriors since joining the team in 2009. In 2016, Kevin Durant joined the team and created one of the most powerful duos in NBA history.

Throughout their time together, Curry and now the Suns star shared the court in 168 games. Their partnership was instrumental in leading the Warriors to numerous victories and milestones. The duo’s dominance was undeniable, as they guided the Warriors to consecutive NBA championships during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.
