One of the more surprising outcomes was the limited playing time given to Jayson Tatum, who had just led the Boston Celtics to an NBA Championship.

Tatum’s reduced role didn’t go unnoticed by fans or the player himself. Recently, the 26-year-old took to Instagram to highlight a tweet from rapper Vince Staples, who, after watching Tatum spend much of the Olympics on the bench, wrote, “WE WILL AVENGE JAYSON TATUM.”

By sharing this message with his large follower base, Jayson Tatum subtly expressed his dissatisfaction with how the tournament played out for him.

Struggled to find playing time

Throughout the six games Team USA played in Paris, Tatum was benched for two and averaged just 17.7 minutes per game in the matches he did participate in.

In stark contrast, veterans like LeBron James and Stephen Curry averaged significantly more time on the court, with 24.5 and 23.3 minutes per game, respectively.

Tatum‘s minutes ranked low compared to other players in the tournament, even though they were slightly higher than those of teammates Derrick White and Tyrese Haliburton, who averaged 15.8 and 8.7 minutes per game.

The next Olympics, set to be held in Los Angeles in 2028, will be significant for Team USA, especially as it will be on home turf.
