Angel Reese has added more fuel to the fire of the Chicago Sky-Indiana Fever rivalry by taking another shot at Caitlin Clark on social media.

Saturday’s contest between the Sky and Fever was headlined by Chennedy Carter’s cheap shot hit on Clark late in the third quarter after the former made a shot. Angel Reese was seen applauding Carter for the hit that drew a foul:

Some fans also noted that if you go to Reese’s “likes” on X/Twitter, you’ll see that she “liked” this tweet from teammate Kalani Brown. Reese is seemingly taking another shot at Clark by shamelessly embracing her sideline actions following Carter’s cheap shot.

After reviewing the play, the WNBA upgraded Carter’s hit on Clark to a flagrant foul. But it was Clark and the Fever who got the last laugh, as Indiana snapped a three-game losing streak by pulling out a close 71-70 victory. It also marked the Fever’s first home win of the 2024 season.

Reese is averaging 10.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game through her first seven WNBA contests. In the loss to Indiana, Reese tallied eight points, 13 rebounds and one assist.

Angel Reese & Chicago Meet Indiana Again On June 16

Fans who are enjoying this rivalry won’t have to wait long for the next showdown between the Sky and Fever. They’re set to clash again in Indiana on June 16 for the second of their four-game regular season series.

That contest will mark the last of a two-game road trip for the Sky, who will then kick off a four-game homestand against the Dallas Wings on June 20. The Fever and Sky also have two meetings in Chicago that will take place on June 23 and Aug. 30, respectively.

Caitlin Clark led the Indiana Fever to a thrilling 71-70 victory over the Chicago Sky on Saturday to snap a three-game losing skid, yet the final score itself wasn’t even the biggest storyline of the game.

Rather, it was the controversy involving Caitlin Clark and Chicago star Chennedy Carter in the third quarter of the contest. After some back-and-forth chirping, Carter delivered a cheap shot on Clark late in the third quarter:

Carter’s shove on Clark was widely criticized across the WNBA. Although Carter was initially issued a foul on the court, the WNBA later assigned a flagrant foul after reviewing the play.

Amid all the controversy and backlash against Carter and the Sky, an old video clip of Caitlin Clark performing a similar cheap hot has resurfaced. The play occurred during the Iowa-Purdue Fort Wayne game on Nov. 24, with Clark delivering a shove on Mastodons guard Erin Woodson:

Clark and Iowa went on to win that game soundly 98-59, with the standout guard tallying 29 points and eight rebounds. The Hawkeyes reached the national championship game but wound up losing to the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Caitlin Clark Is Off To A Strong Start For Indiana

The Fever themselves are off to a slow start, needing a win over Chicago just to improve to 2-8 on the season. The good vibes were short-lived, however, as the Fever got crushed 104-68 against the New York Liberty on Sunday.

It looks like another long season is indeed ahead for the Fever, but the good news is that the first overall pick of 2024 has not disappointed in the slightest. Clark is off to a phenomenal start as a professional, averaging 15.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game.

Clark’s arrival has led to a massive boost in viewership and ticket sales across the WNBA. And fortunately for Fever fans, there is nowhere for this rebuilding team to go but up.
