Recently, Spotify launched an exhibition titled “Gold Standard” to honor the individuals who have laid the foundation for the current golden era of female rappers. The exhibit celebrated artists such as Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Ice Spice, Doja Cat, and Sexxy Red, among others. Many of Nicki Minaj’s fans were puzzled by her absence from the list, especially considering she is currently the most-streamed female rapper on Spotify.

However, according to the artist Manocki, who created the illustrations for the exhibition, Nicki Minaj chose not to be included in the showcase. Manocki revealed that Nicki felt she should be honored with her own dedicated piece rather than sharing the spotlight with others like Ice Spice. This decision reflects Nicki’s desire for a more individualized recognition, underscoring her significant influence and distinct position in the industry.
