With millions of fans tracking her every move since joining the WNBA as the first overall pick in the draft last month, Caitlin Clark is a generational talent that has the potential to elevate the league to new heights.
She also has a large following of detractors because when you’re exceptional at something and attract a lot of attention for it, depressed people online often take offense and will do and say anything to bring you down.
LeBron James, who is well aware of this, sent a message to Clark and others who were attacking her.
The Los Angeles Lakers star made it clear Caitlin Clark is the driving force behind the records being set across the WNBA.
“The one thing that I love that she is bringing to her sport: more people want to watch, more people want to tune in.” LeBron said to co-host JJ Reddick on the “Mind the Game” podcast. “Don’t get it twisted, don’t get it [expletive] up: Caitlin Clark is the reason why a lot of great things are going to happen for the WNBA.”
LeBron then shelled out some much-needed advice, which included her keeping her mouth shut.
“My advice to Caitlin, and my advice to anyone that comes in with this level of notoriety, out-of-this-world expectation, whatever the case may be, be a horse, man. The Kentucky Derby. Put your blinders on, go to work, show up to work, punch your clock in, prepare yourself, work on your game, work on your craft.
“Kind of keep your mouth shut and just learn from the vets. When they ask, voice your opinion if they want your opinion early because everybody is looking for you to say anything, and they’re gonna splice it and cut it and make it a negative thing.”
James, who was just out of high school, was hailed by many as the second coming of Michael Jordan when he joined the NBA as the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft. Under such pressure, most players would have given up, but LeBron was up to the challenge and went on to become one of the all-time greats.
Similar excitement surrounds Caitlin Clark, but instead of being compared to previous greats, she is virtually being put in a class by herself.
Since many believe Caitlin Clark has the talent to propel the WNBA to new heights, she is entering the league without being compared to anyone.
Caitlin Clark was an obvious choice at No. 1 overall for the Fever after leading Iowa to the National Championship Game in back-to-back seasons and winning two National Player of the Year awards in her collegiate career.

Through her first four WNBA games, all eyes have been on Clark, and she has been solid, averaging 17.0 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game.
However, the team is still 0-4 but has shown promise in the last two contests, where they fought hard to the end instead of being blown out like they were in the first two games.

Basketball fans are losing their minds after a clear foul on Caitlin Clark went uncalled during the Indiana Fever-Seattle Storm WNBA game on Wednesday night.
Caitlin Clark and the Fever fell just short of picking up their first win of the young 2024 WNBA season losing 85-83 to the home team in a back-and-forth thriller. With the loss, Indiana fell to 0-5, while the Storm improved to 2-3.
However, there was one notable instance during the contest when the officials failed to call a clear-cut foul while Clark was driving to the basket. Check out the clip below, where Seattle forward Ezi Magbegor gets away with an obvious foul during Clark’s layup attempt:
After this clip went viral, fans expressed disgust with the officials for somehow missing the foul that took away two possible points from Caitlin Clark:
This was a no call on Clark, but would be a flagrant 2 in the NBA.

The highest scorer in the history of Division 1 NCAA basketball was taken first overall by the Fever in last month’s WNBA Draft. Clark has lived up to the hype in the early going, averaging an impressive 17.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game.
Clark had her best performance as a pro in Wednesday’s loss to Seattle, recording 21 points, seven rebounds and as many assists. She made 7-of-9 free throw attempts and also recorded two blocks.
