While the premise of meetings set up by this charity is never the happiest, but Em always manages to create happy memories for those who come to meet him.
This time was no different and David kindly shared the details of this encounter:
I was eligible for the Make-A-Wish Foundation because I had brain cancer back in 2016. So I decided my wish was to meet Eminem. They told me it would be very difficult to meet Eminem since he isn’t public often. Then in 2018, Governor’s Ball in New York came around and Eminem was performing. I didn’t even know that he was performing until Make-A-Wish foundation called my family and told me that they have set me up to meet him at Governor’s Ball. All free, at no cost. Plus, they gave me $5,000 to spend while I was staying in New York. They set me up for trips as well to go to the Statue of Liberty and to go to the Empire State Building. At this time it was now June 3rd, the day to meet the legend himself. So when I met Eminem, I was so star struck that I didn’t even know what to say. Ahead of time, they told me to bring something for Eminem to sign so I brought a drawing I drew of him back in 8th grade art class when we were told to draw a portrait of any person. But when I met him, he was very laid back and told me to call him Marshall and shook hands with each of my family members.
Afterwards, he took me into his trailer and I met Paul Rosenberg, and a few of his other managers. Royce was in there as well. He gave me a lot of merch including a shady beats pill speaker, a white mom’s spaghetti shirt, the signed revival litho, and some other shirts. I also asked him what his favorite album he ever recorded was and he told me that The Marshall Mathers LP was his favorite album that he’s ever made. I bought a white Eminem tour hoodie, and a black Eminem tour shirt at the concert. After I exited the trailer, Eminem said I can have the food at the tables outside and take whatever I’d like. I then heard my mom talking to one of Eminem’s managers and my mom saying, “Oh he’ll be so happy to hear that”. I then asked her what she was talking about and she said, “You’ll see”. After she said that, 50 Cent walked out of the trailer and with him being my second favorite rapper, I was so so happy. So I got a picture with him as well and he was real cool and wanted to take pictures with everyone.
After that, I then attended the concert. I took lots of videos but then my phone ran out of space at the end of the concert so I couldn’t record his final performance of Lose Yourself, but at least I got the rest of the show. It was truly one of the greatest times in my life and I will never forget it.
