One Piece‘s Egghead arc is reaching its conclusion, but not before showing off the most potent demonstration of Haki yet that proved Luffy and Shanks are still weak compared to one legendary pirate. The colossal Iron Giant, named Emet, was discovered by Luffy at the beginning of the arc and played a massive role in helping the Straw Hat escape from the clutches of the Five Elders and the Marines under their thumb, especially after using its secret weapon, which showed a level of power that One Piece fans have not yet seen.

One Piece‘s mysterious power known as Haki has been shown to have many impressive utilities, but arguably its most intimidating is Conqueror’s Haki. The few characters capable of using it have proven extra effective against Devil Fruit users and can even knock out weaker-willed foes within the user’s vicinity.

One Piece manga Chapter 1123 shows High Ranking Marines like Doll Knocked Out from the huge blast of Haki from Egghead Island while the Giants and Luffy Gear 5 thank the Iron Giant it came from.

Previous chapters revealed that Marines must learn to utilize and withstand different types of Haki, and one can only reach the level of Vice Admiral with it. Users of powerful Conqueror’s Haki have been shown to knock out weaker-willed characters in the series with a single glance, but the explosion of Haki gifted to the Iron Giant by Joyboy was strong enough to not only put Vice Admirals out of commission but also defeat the Five Elders with a single blast.

Author Eiichiro Oda provided more information about the mysterious Joyboy character during Dr.Vegapunk’s speech, illuminating the fact that he was regarded as the very first pirate who sailed the seas at the beginning of the Void Century 900 years ago. Chapter #1122 also showed that he shared a close bond with Egghead’s Iron Giant. Because Joyboy knew his large friend Emet would survive longer than him, he gifted him a large rope tied in a knot infused with the most powerful concentration of Conqueror’s Haki One Piece has seen yet.

Once the Haki knot was undone, the blast depowered the monstrous Five Elders, which forced them back to their home. And, in chapter #1123, every Marine surrounding Egghead Island, some of which at the Vice Admiral level, was knocked out cold. While Shanks also delivered a shockingly powerful Haki attack that paralyzed Admiral Greenbull at the end of Wano, Luffy and Shank’s mutual Giant friends believed that Joyboy’s Haki that exploded from Emet may’ve been better after saying, “Was that even stronger than Red-Hair’s?“. This hints that even the strongest One Piece Haki users still have a long way to go before competing with history’s best.

Luffy and Shanks confrontation

Besides playing a considerable role in assisting the Straw Hats and the Giants escape from Egghead, the Iron Giant’s Haki attack also proved to affect the World Government’s secret ruler Imu, showing weakness from One Piece‘s lurking antagonist for the first time in the franchises long-running story. More information about Joyboy will be revealed and even grander displays of Haki from Shanks and Luffy should occur before One Piece‘s story comes to an end.
