Stephen Curry, the star player of the Golden State Warriors, recently demonstrated why he is known as the best shooter in NBA history. The 36-year-old showcased terrific skills in the semifinal and final of the 2024 Paris Olympics, leading Team USA to their fifth straight gold medal. Now, Curry, who a former NFL player recently criticized, is gearing up to display his dominance in the upcoming NBA season, which will start in two months.
Curry and the Warriors have recently agreed to extend his contract, which will see the point guard earn around $63 million for the 2026–2027 season. Following the contract extension, the four-time NBA champion shared his thoughts on continuing to play in the NBA and his extension with the Warriors.
“It’s not different from my perspective. You have an appreciation for the position, the opportunity, and the support from people who’ve been with you on the journey. I’ve always said I wanted to play for one team my whole career. So it’s good to get (the extension) the question out of the way and give complete focus to basketball and the season“, Curry said in a recent interview with the Athletic.
Curry, the two-time NBA MVP, stated that he has always wanted to play basketball for one team throughout his career and is pleased with the contract extension. The four-time NBA champion highlighted his allegiance and thanked everyone who supported him along the way.
Curry Unveils His Game Plan For The Upcoming NBA Season
Steph Curry was one of the dominant forces behind the success of the Warriors in recent years. Alongside Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, the 10-time NBA All-Star clinched four NBA championships for the team. During the same interview, when asked about his 2024-25 season strategy, Curry mentioned that he will always aim to win the title while taking the necessary steps.
“It’s still about winning and taking the steps necessary to give ourselves a chance. The standard hasn’t changed. The expectation hasn’t changed,” Curry added.
Curry showcased exceptional skills on the court during the recent NBA season. Despite his efforts, his team lost in the Play-In tournament. However, Curry successfully won the 2023–24 NBA Clutch Player of the Year Award.
The 36-year-old averaged 26.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.5 rebounds in 74 games in the 2023-24 season. He was also selected to play in his tenth All-Star game. Curry is set to play the first game of the upcoming season against the Sacramento Kings, and it promises to be a fascinating spectacle.
