Bronny James has been under the spotlight since his controversial NBA Draft pick, and his performance in the Summer League didn’t do much to quiet his critics. After a lackluster showing, Bronny’s NBA 2K25 rating was revealed to be 68 overall, sparking further criticism from fans.
On Friday, the league released the player ratings for the 2024 draft class in NBA 2K25. While many focused on the ratings of the top rookies, Bronny’s rating quickly became a hot topic, with some fans questioning whether he deserved it.
Despite the backlash, some have defended Bronny by pointing out an interesting comparison between him and his father, LeBron James. ClutchPoints highlighted that Bronny James’ cool father, LeBron James, was rated just 69 overall in NBA Live during his rookie season.
This comparison sheds light on the challenges rookie players face when living up to the legacy of their famous parents. Bronny’s 68 rating might seem generous to some. But it’s worth noting that even his father started with a modest rating before eventually becoming a dominant force in the league.
LeBron James vs. Bronny James Summer League Performance in Rookie Season
LeBron James made an immediate impact in his NBA summer league debut against the Sacramento Kings. In October of that year, he put up 25 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, dished out 9 assists, and collected 4 steals.
The former Cavaliers player’s shooting was also attractive. He made 12 of his 20 attempts, hitting 60% of his shots. During his debut season, Lebron averaged 15.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists over the course of four games.
Bronny James also faced the Sacramento Kings in his NBA Summer League debut, but his performance was more modest. He scored 4 points, pulled down 2 rebounds, and recorded 2 assists.
Across five games in the summer league, Bronny averaged 5.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.2 steals. His shooting struggled, with a field goal percentage of 28.6% and just 10% from beyond the arc.

The father of Travis Kelce is piping hot mad. He took to Facebook to post a Daily Mail article spotlighting a lyric on Kanye West’s long-awaited Vultures 2 album with Ty Dolla $ign that mentions Taylor Swift.
Kanye featured a lyrical reference to Taylor Swift’s romance with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end. “I twist my Taylor spliffs tight at the end like Travis Kelce,” Lil Wayne raps on the track “Lifestyle (Demo).”
“Mental illness on full display,” Ed wrote in response.
Honestly, those lyrics are quite tame to what we have heard in the past.
Taylor Swift and Kanye West have not been on the same page for years, which started with West interrupting Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
