San Francisco 49ers legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice got into a heated exchange with reporters during Friday’s round of golf at the American Century Championship.

Jerry Rice is among the many celebrities competing at the annual American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Other notable celebrities competing include Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, his brother Jason, Oakland Raiders legend Tim Brown, former NBA stars Vince Carter and Charles Barkley and former MLB stars Gary Sheffield and Mark Mulder and John Smoltz.

During Friday’s round, Rice was spotted getting into a tense confrontation with multiple reporters. According to TMZ Sports, Rice became agitated when he was asked, “Do the Chiefs have a good enough receiver core to win again?”

The footage is available below.

TMZ Sports later reached out to Jerry Rice, who felt like the reporters were looking to get “a rise out of him.” Rice felt as though it was a shot at the 49ers, telling the outer that they had “smirks on their faces” when they asked.

“I’m going to defend the San Francisco 49ers,” Rice told TMZ. “This is my history.”

As it turns out, the reports work for Starcade Media. They later posted a statement on social media and said they didn’t intend to “disrespect” the three-time Super Bowl-winning wide receiver.

The Chiefs defeated the 49ers in Super Bowl 58, winning in overtime after Patrick Mahomes tossed the game-clinching TD to Mecole Hardman. It was the second time in five years where Kansas City defeated Rice’s old team in the big game.

49ers Haven’t Broken Through In Post-Jerry Rice Era

The 49ers were the NFL’s model organization during Rice’s playing career. They won two Super Bowls upon his arrival in 1985, but he later took the dynasty to new heights by leading them to three more championships.

San Francisco won their first five Super Bowl appearances, but they’ve lost three alone over the last 12 seasons (Super Bowl 47, Super Bowl 54 and Super Bowl 58). We’ll see if Kyle Shanahan and company can finally break through with the franchise’s sixth championship here in 2025.

There’s a rumor going around that Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders has six NFL teams on his wish list as he heads into what is likely his final season of college football.

Assuming he declares for the 2025 NFL Draft next year, Shedeur Sanders is expected to be one of first quarterbacks selected. Sanders, Georgia’s Carson Beck and Texas’ Quinn Ewers are the consensus top three QBs eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft.

The NFL Rookie Watch X/Twitter account stated that Sanders would like to play for either of the following six NFL teams: The Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers or Washington Commanders:

For what it’s worth, Shedeur Sanders tried pouring cold water over the rumor and responded with this short-and-sweet message:
